Ringo Report – Training 3: Another Step ForwardHello everyone!
Ringo here with another update from the AGD Summer 2026 youngsters.
Today we took another important step on our journey, completing Training 3 from a distance of 24 km.
The distance was more than double that of our previous training, but if you were expecting dramatic scenes… I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed!
The youngsters handled the extra kilometres with great confidence, proving once again that all those weeks of preparation around the loft have built a solid foundation.
The first arrivals came in a few medium-sized groups, leading the way home by a couple of minutes before the main wave appeared. Soon afterwards, the sky filled with large groups of youngsters returning together, making for another very pleasing training.
Everything is progressing exactly as the trainers had hoped. The pigeons are healthy, full of energy and in excellent condition. Every training adds a little more experience and confidence, and with each journey we’re becoming more familiar with finding our way home.
There isn’t much more to report this week—and that’s actually very good news! In pigeon racing, no news often means everything is going according to plan.
Of course, there won’t be much time to relax. The next challenge is already waiting. This Friday we’ll be heading out once again for another step forward on our road to the AGD Summer 2026 races.
One training at a time, one lesson at a time, one step closer to the finish line.

2ND TRAINING

Ringo Report – Training 2: Confidence is GrowingHello everyone!
Ringo here with another update from the AGD Summer 2026 youngsters.
Today we completed our second road training, this time from a distance of 11 km.
Compared to our first adventure, everything felt much more familiar. The baskets, the truck, the journey… even the release itself. It almost seemed like we already knew the routine!
When the basket doors opened, there was no hesitation. The youngsters lifted into the air confidently, quickly found their direction, and headed for home.
Back at the loft, the arrivals were once again good and steady, with several large groups returning together. Exactly what the trainers like to see!
And just like after our first training, many of us didn’t seem to be in any hurry to trap in. After all, why rush indoors when the Algarve sky is waiting? A few extra laps around the loft seemed like the perfect way to celebrate another successful training before finally heading in.
The biggest difference from Training 1 was the atmosphere. We were much calmer, more confident and clearly more comfortable with the whole experience. It’s amazing how quickly young pigeons learn when they’re given the time to build confidence step by step.
The trainers are very proud of the group, and so are we. Every training brings us a little closer to becoming the racing pigeons we’re meant to be.
But there’s not much time to celebrate… the next challenge is already waiting. If everything goes according to plan, we’ll be back in the baskets on Tuesday for our next training adventure.

1ST TRAINING

Ringo Report – Training 1: The First AdventureHello everyone!
Ringo here, reporting from the AGD Summer 2026 loft after a very exciting day.
Today, Training 1 took place at a distance of 6 km, and while that may not sound very far to the experienced veterans out there, for us youngsters it felt like the beginning of a great adventure.
Everything was new.
It was our first basketing. Our first night in the truck. Our first journey away from the loft. And, of course, our first release at a place we had never seen before.
Needless to say, there were a few nervous faces in the baskets. Some of us tried to look brave, while others spent the evening wondering where exactly the loft had gone and why we were suddenly sleeping in a moving hotel!
Then came the big moment.
The basket doors opened, and suddenly there it was: an unfamiliar landscape, an open sky, and one very important question…
“Which way is home?”
Thankfully, all those weeks of training around the loft had prepared us well. The youngsters quickly got themselves organized, found their bearings, and set course for home.
The arrivals were good and steady, just as the team had hoped. In fact, some of us were having so much fun that we didn’t even want to trap in straight away! After all, we’ve become used to flying for more than an hour every day around the loft, so several pigeons decided to celebrate their successful return with a few extra laps in the Algarve skies before heading in.
Days like today are what AGD is all about. Every champion starts somewhere, and every great racing pigeon has a first training toss.
Six kilometres today, and the next stop is already just around the corner. This Saturday, we will pack our bags once again and set off on an 11 km journey.
The adventure has begun.
