Ringo’s Report: Training 7 at the Algarve Great Derby
Hello again, feathered friends and loyal followers! It’s Ringo, your loyal pigeon reporter, back with the latest from the Algarve Great Derby. Today, we completed our seventh road training, and things are looking up as we prepare for even greater challenges.
Training 7: A 95 Km Flight
Today’s training took us 95 kilometers from the loft. Despite the high temperatures we faced in the evening and overnight, our recent training on drinking in the baskets really paid off. Many of us knew exactly how to hydrate before the release, which was crucial for handling the heat. At 23:00, it was still a scorching 30 degrees Celsius, making proper hydration even more critical.
A Note on Arrivals
The arrival pattern was a bit unusual today. Four pigeons came in first, arriving alone, and we had to wait about five minutes before the next flock showed up. The trainers were briefly concerned, wondering what could have caused the gap. However, their worries were soon put to rest as the rest of us began arriving at a very good pace, quickly filling the loft with excitement.
Improved Performance and Next Steps
Overall, our arrivals were much better than in the previous training. The group stayed more cohesive, and we returned in strong form. This improvement shows that we’re getting better at handling longer distances and tougher conditions.
Ready for the Next Challenge
With today’s success, we’re feeling confident and ready to tackle the next big milestone. The next road training will take us over the 100-kilometer mark, and it’s scheduled for either Friday or Saturday this week. We’re all looking forward to it and gearing up for what lies ahead.
That’s the latest from the Algarve Great Derby, folks. Today’s training showed just how far we’ve come, and we’re ready to keep pushing ourselves. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this journey. This is Ringo, signing off from the loft.
Fly high, stay hydrated, and keep pushing those limits!
