Ringo’s Report: Training 6 at the Algarve Great Derby
Hello again, feathered friends and loyal followers! It’s Ringo, your trusty pigeon reporter, back with the latest from the Algarve Great Derby. Today, we completed our sixth road training, and it turned out to be an interesting day for all of us.
Training 6: A 74 Km Challenge
Today’s training took us 74 kilometers from the loft, and while the arrivals were steady, something was definitely different. Pigeons were arriving from every possible direction, which added a new twist to our learning curve. Navigating back home from so many directions was a valuable experience for us, even though it was a bit unexpected.
A Disrupted Flight
It seems that something disrupted our group during the flight. Whether it was a hawk attack, unexpected obstacles like electrical cables, or some unseen changes in the weather, something caused us to break formation. As a result, we saw a lot of individual arrivals today. Unfortunately, at least two pigeons arrived with broken legs, and many of us seemed a bit frightened as we made it back to the loft.
Recovery and Next Steps
With the high temperatures today and in the days ahead, the trainers have decided to give us at least four days to recover. Our next road training session is planned for the beginning of next week, and it will cover a distance of 100 kilometers—a significant step up.
That’s the latest from the Algarve Great Derby, folks. Today’s training was a tough one, but every challenge helps us grow stronger. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this journey. This is Ringo, signing off from the loft.
Fly high, stay strong, and keep learning from every challenge!
