Algarve Great Derby 2024. Training nº5

Hello again, feathered friends and loyal followers! It’s Ringo, your reliable pigeon reporter, back with the latest news from the Algarve Great Derby. Today, we completed our fifth road training, and it was a swift and successful flight.

Training 5: Quick Returns from 50 Km

Today’s training covered a distance of 50 kilometers, and we were well-prepared for the challenge. The flight went smoothly, and the arrival was impressively fast. A remarkable 93% of us made it back to the loft within just 10 minutes of the first pigeon’s arrival. It was a display of our growing strength and coordination.

Drinking in the Baskets: Progressing Well

In addition to our flying, our training on drinking in the baskets is going well. More and more pigeons are becoming comfortable with it, which will be crucial for the tougher challenges ahead. This skill will be especially important as we start covering longer distances and facing the high temperatures expected in the coming days.

Minimal Recovery Time Needed

Thanks to our preparation and the smooth flight, we don’t need much time to recover this time around. The next road training will take place on Thursday, covering a distance of 75 kilometers—a new milestone for us.

Rising Temperatures Ahead

However, the next few days will bring rising temperatures, which are expected to stay high for about a week. This will make the upcoming trainings more challenging, so we’ll need to stay focused and hydrated.
