Ringo’s Report: Training 4 at the Algarve Great Derby
Hello again, feathered friends and loyal followers! It’s Ringo, your trusty pigeon reporter, back with the latest from the Algarve Great Derby. Today, we completed our fourth road training, and it came with a new set of challenges.
Training 4: Facing the Headwind
Today’s training took us 37 kilometers, and the conditions added an extra layer of difficulty. We encountered a strong headwind, and the race direction was slightly altered. This change made it tricky for us to orient ourselves at first. Many of us were caught by the wind and ended up heading north before we could correct our course toward the loft.
The Journey Home
Because of the wind, almost all of us arrived from the east, which you might have noticed in the video. We ended up covering more ground than the direct air distance, adding a few extra kilometers to our journey. The wind made it challenging, but it was also a great learning experience.
Group and Solo Arrivals
Despite the difficulties, nearly all the arrivals up to place 1000 came in larger groups, showing that teamwork is still strong among us. After that, pigeons started arriving individually, but even those who came in alone were in good shape, showing their resilience and endurance.
Looking Ahead
Our next challenge will be on Tuesday, with a road training flight from 54 kilometers. It’s going to be our longest distance yet, and we’re ready to take it on with everything we’ve learned so far.
So there you have it, folks—the latest from the Algarve Great Derby. Today’s training pushed us in new ways, but we’re growing stronger with each challenge. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this exciting journey. This is Ringo, signing off from the loft.
Fly high, stay strong, and keep facing those winds head-on!
